Last summer me and my girlfriend Gabbi went to the Pyrenees to see some of the late stages in Tour de France. Here are pictures from our trip. Remember to read more.
Inside the press area there were thousands of cables.
At the finish line in Pau.
I stood pretty close.
BMC Team bus.
The press tent where we killed the last hour of the race.
Now on the course with all journalists, families and staff.
See Contador? It’s the man in yellow in the middle.
Mark Cavendish was in a hurry to the team bus.
Gabbi met an old friend. Andreas Klier’s mom is from Sweden so Andreas can speak Swedish and four or five other languages.
Cadel Evans spare bike.
At the hotel in Tarbes enjoying my beer, a steak and watching Milram clean their bikes.
We went for a ride too. Upwards Col de Tourmalet (2115m). I used Gabbis old Chesini.
Sad it was cloudy that day. Magnificent view.
2/3 up the fog came.
And it got cold and damp quickly.
Above the fog (possibly cloud =) ) the mountain tops reappeared.
Gabbi takes a minute to rest.
View from our hotel. See all those blue cars and trucks. It’s quite common among Pro Teams to have 1 team Bus, 1 mini van, 1 mechanic and bike truck, 1 camper and 3-4 team cars.
Carlos Sastre chasing the breakaway.
